| Notes From the Director |
 |
(Pronounced o si yo and is the Cherokee word for hello.)
As we enjoy spring, we want to thank everyone who continues to support us, the All Roads staff, in all our endeavors. Here's a brief summary of what All Roads accomplished last year and what we are planning for 2010.
In 2009, we partnered with FOX Entertainment and Native Media Technology Network (NMTN) to train college students in film and orientate them to the industry; presented an All Roads showcase on the UCLA campus and at Washington, D.C.; hosted screenings in the LA Film Festival and AFI Fest; and partnered with the D.C. African Diaspora Film Series to show films at National Geographic headquarters.
We started 2010 off with a bang, partnering with Women In Film (WIF) to annually award a film grant to a woman filmmaker for best documentary during the Sundance Film Festival.
We plan to launch a new venture called All Roads on Tour. And everyone can look forward to the All Roads Film Festival to be held September 28–October 3, 21010 in Washington, D.C., at National Geographic headquarters.
So stay tuned!
Hózhó,
Francene J. Blythe (Diné, Sisseton-Wahpeton Dakota, Eastern Band Cherokee)

This year we had the honor to have presenter Ron Yerxa, who has produced such films as Little Miss Sunshine and Cold Mountain among others. If you missed the screenings, you can read about them from the perspective of our All Roads intern, Mariana Olmos.
